MEETING THE FIRST CITIZEN AND THE HON’BLE RAKSHA MANTRI

A total of 15 IDAS  probationers of  the 2006 (SL), 2008 (SL) and 2010 batch who are currently undergoing departmental training at NADFM, Pune were in New Delhi in mid-June, 2012  as part of their departmental attachment. Their stay which included the conventional and inter- actional familiarization trips to various Controllers’ Offices concluded with their highly memorable visit to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Pratibha DeviSingh Patil on 18^th of June, 2012. This noteworthy visit was preceded by another remarkable visit to the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri A K Antony on 11^th June, 2012.The first citizen of the nation- the Hon’ble President – is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and it is the RM under whose guidance  the Defence Ministry functions smoothly. So, it was only befitting that the IDAS probationers , who after the successful completion of their probation are to be entrusted with the task of overlooking the pay, accounting, auditing and pensionary benefits of the defence personnel and become the torch-bearers for the DAD – got to share a few moments with them.

Shri Arvind Kaushal, IDAS, Addl. CGDA and Shri Navneet Verma, IDAS, Jt. CGDA (Trg) accompanied the probationers during their call-on to the Hon’ble President .The probationers commenced their conversation with the President by briefing her about their Bharat Darshan and their training experiences. They requested the President to enunciate the duties of an officer. The President emphasized on the need for ensuring canons of financial propriety and spending government money as judiciously as one’s own money.

During their visit to the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri the probationers were accompanied by Shri Navneet Verma, IDAS, Jt. CGDA (Trg.). While addressing the IDAS probationers, the Hon’ble RM emphasized that first and foremost, the young officers are supposed to be reasonable and helpful to the executive and secondly, they should not be party to any corrupt practices.
