The DPTI is spread over an area of 9500 sq metres. It has been designed as a modern structure with a perfect blend of aesthetics and architectural focus. It has a well designed auditorium with a sitting capacity of 250 people. The academic block of DPTI is well equipped with modern teaching aids and has well experienced faculty. It provides residential facilities for short duration courses.

While the focus of training is on Defence Pension other relevant areas of management, finance and accounts and information technology are also being covered. DPTI training programmes emphasize on the development of human resources in all organizations associated with defence pension viz. banks, treasury offices, record offices, heads of offices and offices of the related establishment of the services, besides the training of officers and staff of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension). With the commissioning of this state-of- the art learning facility, training on Defence Pension has received a great boost.

About 25 in-house training courses for officers and staff of PCDA (Pensions) have been conducted since the start of April 2008. Participants from external agencies like banks, ROOs etc have appreciated the various facilities available at DPTI. The institute has emerged as a common platform and in the years to come would usher in an era of greater collaborative efforts among establishments dealing with defence pension sanction/revision and disbursement. The endeavour would be to be more responsive to the challenging needs and expectations of ex-servicemen.
